FAQs

  • Therapy is a process. Sessions range between 45-50 minutes. You can expect for your clinician to listen, affirm, and/or challenge you. It’s unique from other relationships that you may have as there is confidentiality. We treat all information shared with us with the utmost privacy and care. Therapy is a space where you can share your most vulnerable stories or perspectives without judgment.

  • Therapy is a collaborative process. If you are ready to be vulnerable, to make the commitment to yourself, to have the courage to speak, and to make the effort to create change, therapy can help you learn more about yourself, your habits, and inform different ways to manage, cope, or respond.

    That being said, because the therapy process is collaborative, it is important that you discuss your concerns with your clinician if you are experiencing hesitations around “fit.” Not all therapists are the same, therefore, it may be a few sessions before you might begin to feel comfortable with your clinician. Please know it is your right to end a therapeutic relationship, if you do not feel that the clinician is a fit for you.

  • Your session time is reserved for you. Therefore, the clinician will wait for you up to 20 minutes after the agreed upon appointment time. Our therapists will meet with you for whatever the remaining time is left in the appointment..

    Should you need to reschedule or cancel, we ask that you cancel or reschedule your appointment time with at least 24 hours notice. We understand that things will come up and can be flexible. However, because your appointment time is reserved for you, you will incur the full fee if the cancellation/rescheduling policy is not respected.

  • At California Psych & Wellness, we have set our fees to include the value of working with experienced professionals to help you have clearer thinking, to reduce anxiety, to improve mood, to improve relationships, and to find inner peace. The cost of not entering therapy could range from unmanageable stress, burnout, chronic health problems, to possible death. For more information on our fees, please contact us.

    At California Psych & Wellness, we have set our fees to align with the average fee for service in the Los Angeles area. Therefore, individual appointments are $250/session and couple appointments are $300/session. We reserve the right to offer a very limited number of sliding scale appointments to enable access to care.

  • California Psych & Wellness is an “out of network” provider for all PPO insurance plans. This means that we are not contracted with insurance companies, which allows us to not be under the influence of the business conditions set by insurance companies. Additionally, this also means that you will be responsible for paying the full fee upfront.

    However, should you be interested in exploring if your insurance will pay for your therapy, we are able to provide you with an invoice (aka a “superbill”) at your request at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance provider. We do not guarantee that all claims will be honored and recommend that you speak with your insurance carrier to learn about what percentage of the cost can be reimbursed to you.

    To find out more about your insurance coverage, we recommend that you contact the number on the back of your insurance card. We encourage you to ask them about:

    • What percentage is covered for “out of network” providers;

    • What is my out of network coinsurance for outpatient mental health visits?

    • CPT Code 90791= New Client Intake

    • CPT Code 90837/90834/90832= Psychotherapy Appt

    • What is my deductible for meeting with an out of network provider? How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider or my primary care physician to see someone out of network?

    • What diagnoses, if any, are not covered for these services?

    • How do I submit a claim for out of network reimbursement.

  • We are happy to do our best at answering your questions. Please contact us and we will offer a 15 minute complimentary consult to discuss your questions. This does not establish a therapeutic relationship, rather it is intended to help you assess if this may be a fit for you.
